Kyocera error 1102 with Microsoft 365: find the failed login
Kyocera error 1102 means the device could not log in to its configured SMTP or POP3 server. It does not identify the cause of the failure.
Investigate the login and authentication method first. Do not treat 1102 as proof that DNS, networking, TLS or Microsoft 365 itself is broken.
That distinction matters. Replacing an SMTP relay will not fix a wrong DNS name. Changing a password will not add OAuth support to an older device.
Separate 1102 from neighbouring failures
| Code | Where to look first |
|---|---|
| 1101 | SMTP server name, DNS, network route |
| 1102 | SMTP/POP3 login and the authentication method |
| 2204 | Connection timeout and firewall path |
| 3101 | Server reply, sender address and account relationship |
| 4803 | SSL/TLS connection and certificates |
Kyocera's error-code reference is the source for these distinctions.
If the printer is sending through Microsoft 365
Open the device's SMTP configuration and record the destination host, port, encryption mode, login identity and From address. Do not copy passwords into support tickets.
If the target is smtp.office365.com, check which authentication method the device actually supports. Microsoft 365 client SMTP submission requires suitable TLS and an authentication method allowed by the tenant and mailbox. A 1102 message on the panel alone cannot tell you whether the problem is credentials, account policy or an unsupported method.
Ask the Microsoft 365 administrator to check the relevant mailbox and tenant SMTP AUTH settings. Do not broadly loosen security defaults as a first troubleshooting step.
When a local relay helps
A compatible printer can submit its message to a restricted SMTP listener on your own network instead of authenticating directly to Microsoft 365. SMTPReady supplies that listener on Windows, then submits accepted mail through Microsoft Graph using the organisation's authorised mailbox.
That addresses the cloud authentication boundary. It does not repair incorrect DNS, broken networking or incompatible local SMTP settings. For internal-only recipients or suitable connector setups, Microsoft-native options may be simpler.
Before changing the printer, save its current settings and test with a single permitted sender. Verify that an actual scan reaches the intended recipient.
Next step
If 1102 is an authentication-method mismatch, compare the available Microsoft 365 routes.
Use the native route when it satisfies the sender, recipient and network constraints. SMTPReady is the narrow bridge when those routes do not fit.
